Tell your Senators Not to Slash Funding for Bird Conservation

Dear Omss,

The House of Representatives plans on gutting funding for key bird conservation programs. If passed by the Senate, these destructive cuts will harm birds and wildlife as well as undo decades of successful conservation efforts.

Like you, I understand that, in the face of a budget crisis, tough decisions must be made to reduce our massive deficit, but a legitimate analysis of the costs and benefits of all federal programs is essential to ensure that vital programs are not senselessly defunded.

Key bird conservation programs include: The Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act, Joint Ventures, State Wildlife Grants,The North American Wetlands Conservation Act.

Senators need to hear from bird advocates like you today to ensure that these critical bird conservation programs continue to be funded.

Thank you for your help in ensuring the next generation of Americans will have a chance to appreciate the native birds we enjoy today.

Sincerely,
