Project FeederWatch Electronic Newsletter

September 7, 2011

Celebrating 25 years!

Preparations are nearly complete for the 25th season of FeederWatch. Soon we will start shipping kits for the new season, which begins November 12.

Data entry closing soon

The FeederWatch online data entry system will close on September 15 to prepare for the new season. If you need to change your email address in your online profile (so that you can receive an automatic login/password reminder) or if you still have data to enter from the 2010-2011 season, this is your last chance. After September 15, data from the past season can only be submitted on paper forms. To update your email address, click on the "Edit My Profile" link on the Data Entry home page.

Please note that only participants registered for the 2010-2011 season are able to log in at this time. After November 1 all participants registered for the 2011-2012 season will be able to log in and set up their count sites.

Research kits

We will start shipping kits in the U.S. in a few weeks. Kits for Canadian participants will be sent in October. Early kits are shipped by bulk mail, so delivery times vary from one to four weeks. If you have not signed up yet, please do so soon to assure that your kit arrives before the season starts. If you have already signed up and do not see your kit by November 1, please contact us.

Do you need to renew?

We recently sent a renewal notice to all U.S. participants from last season who had not yet renewed for this coming season. If you did not receive a renewal letter, then your registration is current and your kit (if you chose to receive one) will be shipped in the first batch we send out.

The Red Mushroom is extremely beautiful and will really spice up your aquarium!.

The Red Mushroom or Metallic Red Mushroom A. cardinalis is quite stunning and has a true red color. This is unusual because most reds in the aquarium world are more brown or orange. Because of this these corals are definitely sought after for aquariums. They are also efficient at taking out unwanted nutrients in the water. If you want to make sure they don’t spread too far, make sure to provide a surrounding barrier around their main rock and keep it a minimum of 6 inches from your main rocks… Read More
