Lolo's Street: A Sesame Street Inspired Party in Central Park!!

Posted: 06 Jul 2011 07:23 AM PDT

LV is  a dear and very talented friend, and when she asked me to help design some of the printables for her adorable twins' birthday party (Lolo) I jumped at the chance!!

These designs are NOT for sale, but I took great pleasure in brainstorming with LV to create some of the funnest (made up word..) printables ever for Lolo's 2nd Birthday Party in Central Park!! :)

Check out the cuteness below...including a DIY Teepee Puppet Theater made by LV herself!!

LV used the printables to make favor bags, picnic food labels, banner and some pretty darn cute, T-Shirt party favors for the kiddies!! :)

This is such a fun, fab party, and I'm thrilled to have been a tiny part of Lolo's special day!!
LV, I especially LOVED the bloomers you were wearing for the day!! ;D

Red Gorgonian - Leptogorgia chilensisRed Gorgonian

Leptogorgia chilensis
"Want a tall, gorgeous looker dress to kill in red? I may be just the ticket!"

The Red Gorgonian can grow extremely tall – often the entire height of your aquarium!

Depending on how much the water moves in the ocean or the aquarium, the Leptogorgia genus can develop many different shapes. These shapes include a dichotomous structure (a “Y” shaped pattern of branches) and a branch structure that is feathery or a pinnate structure. The Red Gorgonian generally grows quite tall, oftentimes up to 18″ in height. Other common names for the red gorgonians include the Sea Spray, the Sea Fan, and the Sea Whip… Read More

Baby Baltimore Oriole

Baby Baltimore Oriole
Baby Baltimore Oriole

Well, we never did get a nesting pair of Baltimore Orioles in our tree this year. We are thinking it had something to do with the lake being empty in April when the males arrived. The good news is that the adults are now bringing the fledglings to our yard for feeding. We will keep up with the grape jelly and oranges, but we suspect they will feed on mostly the insects they catch high up in the trees, which makes photographing them a challenge. We will enjoy their company and share any good pictures we get.

URGENT: Tell your Representatives to Restore Funding for Act for Songbirds!

Dear Omss,

Today, the House Interior Appropriations Subcommittee zeroed out funding for the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act (NMBCA) grants program which is the only federal U.S. grants program specifically dedicated to the conservation of our migrant birds throughout the Americas.

Congress should not defund a program that has a proven track-record of success, having supported 333 projects in 48 U.S. states/territories and 36 other countries since its inception in 2002 and leveraging millions of dollars in matching contributions. Advances in conservation for many declining species, such as the Cerulean Warbler, owe much to the NMBCA.

Your Representative needs to hear from bird advocates like you today to ensure that this critical bird conservation program continues to be funded.  Please tell your Representative how important this program is and urge them to restore funding for the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act.

We have made it easy for you to take action now - simply click the button below, enter your zip code at the bottom of the page and then send the automatically generated email to your Representatives asking them to restore funding to this critical program.

Please consider taking a little extra time to add some thoughts of your own to the text we have provided.  This greatly increases the chances of your comments being read by your Senators.

Thank you for your help in ensuring the next generation of Americans will have a chance to appreciate the native birds we enjoy today.

Sincerely,

Anne Law
Deputy Director of Conservation Advocacy
