  |   	  2011 Fall Migration Citizen Science Training
  |  Have you ever wondered if you have what it takes to work at a HWI migration site?  If the answer is yes, this four day program is for you.  You will learn the necessary skills, use them in the field  at our Commissary Ridge Raptor Migration Site in Wyoming, and return to the site later in the season to help with the migration count. 
  Part 1 - Why Watch Hawks? Thursday, August 25, 2011  HWI Headquarters:  2240 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah  7:00 pm  Learn about HWI,  why we study migration, where our migration sites are located, and the  role you will play as a Citizen Scientist.
  Part 2 - Raptor ID Seminar   Saturday, August 27, 2011  HWI Headquarters:  2240 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah  10:00 am - 2:00 pm  This four hour intensive class will help you learn the skills necessary to assist our observers and counters at the site.
  Part 3 - Field Trip to Commissary Ridge Friday and Saturday, September 2 - 3, 2011 Commissary Ridge Raptor Migration Site, Wyoming Meet in  Kemmerer at 5:30 pm (directions to follow).  Friday evening will be  spent enjoying great food and camaraderie; and Saturday will be full of  raptor ID, counting, and expanding your raptor knowledge.

  |  |   The Art and Science of Hawkwatching    Tuesday, August 16, 2011  REI: 3285 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City    7:00 - 8:00 pm      In the Fall, migrating birds of prey start their journeys along migration corridors, eventually finding their way to their winter homes.  Hawkwatchers flock to places along these migration corridors to see them, to learn about them, and to count them.  Find out more about these interesting people, the birds they love, and how you can become one of them!      Raptor Program  Friday, August 26, 2011  Mirror Lake Campground, Utah   7:00 - 8:00 pm     Come out and meet our education raptors.  Learn about why we have the birds, why raptors are unique, and the work HWI does on their behalf.    |
