Caribbean Organizers Ready for IMBD

Sheylda

Sheylda Diaz of Puerto Rico (l)

and Anthony Levesque of Guadeloupe make bird festivals in the Caribbean happen!

SCSCB (The Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds) met in Grand Bahamas in July 2011. Among the many excellent sessions was the opportunity for educators to get their IMBD 2011 materials and practice their interviewing skills.

Leo Douglas, Chair of SCSCB's Media Working Group organized a session dedicated to exploring the importance of media to involving the public in bird conservation.  Participants learned techniques for improving their speaking skills and practiced during mock interviews.  Listen to The Nature Conservancy's Leno Davis share news about his IMBD event..."live".

Bird Educator Course Moves to St. Marks
St. MarksThe National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) course, Connecting People to Nature through Birds,
will be held at St. Marks NWR in March 2012.

St. Marks is the gateway
to the Florida Birding Trail and home to over 250 bird species.  We'll have great birding along with our sessions on managing groups, organizing a bird walk, and more.  For information, contact Michelle Donlan at Michelle_Donlan@fws.gov.  We hope you join us!

Walk on the Wild Side ~ Colorado
BirdmaskRocky Mountain Bird Observatory will host its first Walk on the Wild Side in Brighton, Colorado on October 1, 2011.  Funds will benefit their many education programs, including family programs, youth camps, and classroom presentations.

Take part in a 1K, 5K, or 10K, be a volunteer, sign up as a virtual walker, or send in your contribution.  There are many ways to be a part of bird conservation!
