Over 50,000 spectators show up at the Chincoteague Pony Penning Day every year! These ponies originate hundreds of years ago from the islands of Chincoteague and Assateague, which are barrier islands off the mid Atlantic coastline. These modern ponies are gentle with lots of stamina and are very athletic.
